Telephone and Data Communications Equipment
The false wall provision, indicated in the sketch, provides a convenient location for the patch panels, cabling, processors etc. required to serve the facility.

Distribution
The false wall and suspended ceiling, power poles and adjoining desks all provide a route for cables.

Transients:
Transient protection needs considering. Most over voltage damage is caused by lightning strikes to the ground around a premises and travelling inside along underground cables. Communication cabling laid underground or in a position within a premises where transients may be induced, are risk items.

Fibre optic cables themselves are not electrical conductors, however their metal sheathing is.

Wireless
Wireless communication, where security is not of prime concern, may reduce the amount of cabling required. Where the room size is such that antennae are required, they may be installed, embedded in the backs of suspended ceiling tiles, as an alternative to surface mounted masts.
